Dance Performance Postponed...

The dance competition is now postponed....I'll let you know the details later!

Alternate Science Assignment

For people wishing an alternate science assignment to boost their science mark, an alternate assignment will be handed out tomorrow.  It will be due back the first day back from Spring Break.

Should your child not be here tomorrow, alternate times can be made available, but it does need to be in ASAP.  The longer time goes by, the less likely I am to receive an assignment.

Thank you.

Dance Competition Postponed

The dance competition has been moved to April 21st due to our crazy weather.  More information will be posted later.  Should students still wish to do their own dance, there is still the opportunity for students to do so.  A lot of money can be raised for the classroom this way!

As well, just a reminder that book orders are due tomorrow!

Money Raised...Fundraising

Today we raised $49 selling Tim Horton's donuts....Charity and I have decided that we're going to do it twice a month as it's a simple way to raise funds.  The funds from this fundraiser went directly towards props needed for our dance coming up this Friday....

From a bake sale a couple months back, we were finally able to purchase individual whiteboards for students, or "blurt boards" as we call them.  Normally, we use them as tools for quizzing and seeing what students understand in math and other subjects but they also came up with the idea of using them to practice their spelling...Great Idea!

We also plan on doing a major fundraiser in April....we'll be providing lunch to students...no help or food is needed from parents.  More details will follow in the next couple of weeks!

Report Cards Out...

Report cards were sent home today with your child.  It should be in a school envelope with either your child's name or your name on it.

An alternate assignment is going to be handed out to students wishing to raise their mark in Science-this is the only area in which it would be hard to make up the classwork (assignments would be quite hard without the support of the teacher, etc).  The assignment will be worth the same marks that your child missed out on, and whatever mark they receive will be applied to their report card.  Other areas of concern can be made up simply by your child handing in his or her work.  If copies of the assignments are wanted, please let me know, and I can prepare them to be ready for you.

Pigs Inspired by Jillian Jiggs

These were our piggies that we made as a part of Art/ELA.  The inspiration came from The Wonderful Pigs of Jillian Jiggs by Phoebe Gillman.  We followed her instructions from the page at the back of the book.  Students were allowed to create any kind of look for their pig.  From there, students constructed a character sketch of their pig, learned how to plan a beginning, middle and an end for their story, and then had to write a story featuring their pig.
